Ever seen this icon?
If you’ve spent time online — that’s all of us — you probably have. Here's a little secret about it:
It can make your life easier.
It’s the symbol for RSS. (Stands for really simple syndication, but don’t mind that.)
Why should I care about RSS?
With RSS, you can do all of your favorite reading in one place.
If you’re like me, you have a bunch of go-to sites that you read every day to stay informed about the economy, markets, world news, technology, and anything else that matters to you. This probably means jumping around from website to website and app to app. Maybe a few times a day.
RSS can save you time. And that can help you enhance your productivity.
How RSS works
RSS is a way to subscribe to web content. Here’s how it works:
- Websites, columns, and blogs generate feeds.
- These syndicated feeds — “RSS feeds” — get updated every time something new is published.
- You subscribe to the feeds. The content comes to you.
All you need is an RSS reader.
Read your feeds with Feedly
Feedly is an RSS reader that synchs between your laptop, tablet, and smartphone. Use it to subscribe to your favorite sites, columns, blogs, even video playlists — a collection of exactly what you want. And you can pull it up on any device.
